More rain was set to fall through the evening and then gradually taper off. “And the sad reality is our climate is changing faster than our infrastructure can respond.”Ī widespread 3 to 6 inches of rain had fallen across the New York City by late Friday afternoon. ![]() “Overall, as we know, this changing weather pattern is the result of climate change,” Rohit Aggarwala, New York City’s Chief Climate Officer said in a Friday morning news conference. The prolific totals are a symptom of climate change, scientists say, with a warmer atmosphere acting like a massive sponge, able to sop up more water vapor and then wring it out in intense spurts which can easily overwhelm outdated flood protections. Track travel delays: NYC airports hammered with heavy rain and flooding A month’s worth of rain fell in Brooklyn in just three hours as it was socked by some of the storm’s most intense rainfall rates Friday morning. 1/5/2024 0 Comments Coreldraw student 2018![]() ![]() This Gen 2 model gets the latest 13th Gen CPUs from Intel and a choice of Intel Xe graphics or an Nvidia RTX 4060 and RTX 2000 Ada professional GPUs, so there's plenty of power here – though it does mean the build is a little bulky. Much the same applies just as much to this revised model, and the power was pretty great too – though you can choose just how highly specced you want this machine to be. ![]() "The first highlight for me was its battery life," said our reviewer of the previous-gen model, who used the 2-in-1 laptop all day, every day when testing it. Boasting a sharp 3:2 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for your choice of MPP stylus, and an ergonomic design that's specifically great for drawing – giving you far more potential angles for the screen than a simple L-shaped laptop – this is an excellent choice for graphic designers, digital artists or pen-based photo editors. If you need a drawing screen when you're designing, this could be the ideal choice. Read our full Asus ProArt Studiobook OLED review.Ĭan get more power for the money elsewhere With all that going for it, the ProArt Studiobook OLED is the laptop to go for if you’re not a fan of Apple’s MacBooks. And maybe even if you are. You can use it to scrub through a timeline, for example, or tweak brush sizes in your image editor of choice. Plus, there’s a built-in dial that sits above the trackpad, and this can be customised and change its role depending on which app you’re running. Its OLED display is bright and sharp packs in touchscreen functionality and hits 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, so it should be able to handle colour-accurate work with ease. In fact, as our reviewer said, "the machine is powerful enough to deserve a place in any workplace that has the need for creative software". If you want to be able to run your heavy workloads without worrying that your laptop is going to melt, ASUS’s device will be very attractive. It has crammed the device with a plethora of high-end components that are perfect for all manner of demanding creative tasks, yet the device manages to stay cool and composed almost at all times. Read our review of the previous-gen MacBook Pro 16-inch (M2, 2023) to find out more about why we rate this laptop so very highly.Īsus has managed something quite remarkable with its ProArt Studiobook OLED (H7604) laptop. What’s more, the newest MacBook Pro retains a smattering of beloved ports, such as the HDMI slot and an SD card reader. If, on the other hand, portability is your aim, then the 14-inch MacBook Pro might be your best bet (see our MacBook Pro 14-inch (M2) review for more). If you’re often working on the move, the incredible 22 hours of battery life will be more than enough. There’s also a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio – perfect for design work. For context, the average is around 500 nits.Īpple calls the screen a Liquid Retina XDR display, and it uses mini-LED tech so the colours are intense and vivid. With the brilliant new 3nm M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, it’s faster than ever and has a big, bright screen that delivers an impressive 1,600 nits when you’re consuming HDR content. We’ve picked the MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 (2023) for the overall best laptop for graphic design because it’s one of the most powerful laptops on the market right now. We've also got a guide to the best laptops for video editing, as well as the best video editing software, if you're ready to try something new. Many of the devices we've included below are professional-grade, so if you're looking for something a tad more affordable make sure to check out our guide to the best student laptops for other options. For full information on our process check out our guide to how we test laptops. We've tested every model included in this guide ourselves, running extensive benchmark tests, cross-referencing specs like the battery life and screen brightness against the manufacturer's claims and completing projects to see how well each device stacks up. If you're running the best graphic design software, you'll need ample power and an excellent display to render your creative works, and that's exactly what we look for when we test laptops for graphic design. However, shopping for them can be a minefield that's where our expert testing and review process comes in. While few of the best laptops for graphic design come cheap, they do make for excellent and highly capable machines. ![]() 1/5/2024 0 Comments One password family plan![]() ![]() LastPass offers mobile password manager apps for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. 1/4/2024 0 Comments Vb6 datagrid example![]() ![]() The code in this example merely checks to see that the Grid’s container and the List’s container are not the same object, and then assumes the list is directly contained by the form. I suppose it would be possible to look for the list’s container if it were a different container within the same chain of nested containers, but, quite frankly, the need for this exercise escaped me. To perform this fixup, I wrote the CalcContainerOffset function (implemented in the MainForm object of the demo project), which assumes the list is a direct descendant of its form. If the grid happens to be inside of a control that is a container of other controls (for instance, a PictureBox or Frame control), we have a bit more work to do: We must walk up the container chain until we find an object that either has no container property, has no parent property, has container and parent that are the same object, or has a container of type Form/MdiForm. The code in the figure below accurately calculates the correct position, as long as the list and the grid are both immediate children of their form, or in the same container: To create this effect, the ButtonClick event handler must dynamically position a listbox just below the active cell. It’s up to your app to do anything with it. ![]() There is no functionality associated with this element by default clicking it merely fires the “ButtonClick” event. That’s where the similarity ends, though. When set to true for a given column, the cells in that column are shown with a graphical “button” drawn on the right edge, much like the element of a combobox that’s clicked to make it display its drop-down list. The Column object exposes a boolean property named Button. (I squandered many hours chasing this most irritating little flaw.) The Lookup Column It fails to retain a reference to the object on which it was implicitly called, somehow causing it to “forget” that it has already displayed the menu. Apparently, the call loses track of where it originated. If your menu item causes some other object to receive focus, the first form can cause the menu to be spuriously redisplayed. So, in a form, the two statements below would seem to be equivilent: There are two valid ways to call this: It can be called as a method of an explicitly specified object, or it can be called without an object, in which case the active form is implied. The other quirk involves the call to the VB function PopupMenu. (It does this by default for the left button.) Menus Gone Mad The Grid does fire the MouseDown event when either button is clicked, so the work-around is to explicitly set focus to the Grid in the Grid_MouseDown handler. The net effect is the user would be forced to left-click the Grid prior to right-clicking it, unless it already had focus-it makes the app look unresponsive. The Grid will not fire MouseUp for the right button unless it has focus. The MouseUp event is suitable for this purpose, but there are two little quirks you’ll need to know about. It does support a Click event, but it’s useless for this purpose because it does not identify which mouse button was clicked. ![]() The grid itself does not support a ContextMenu event, as do most other VB controls. The application that accompanies this article demonstrates all of these, and this section will hopefully explain the mechanics of each. The most notable of these would be Access-style lookup columns, boolean columns that are represented graphically as checkboxes, and the use of context menus. ![]() There are some grid-related features users have come to expect, that the DataGrid stops well short of making easy to implement. ![]() 1/4/2024 0 Comments Calibre kindle fire 5th gen![]() The book disappears from the list and nothing is opened. Having the transmission go when you are boondocking or in a strange town is never any fun.Ībove 220 degrees F, do not expect your transmission to last the year if you drive your RV full time. Watching the temperature of your transmission prevents repairs and damage to your vehicle. If you keep the temperature down at around 175, which is the normal temperature level everyone else is talking about, then you can expect to get 100,000 miles out of the life of your transmission. If you stick to that level then you can expect to get 20,000 to 50,000 miles out of your transmission. he is an expert on RVs and does know his stuff. We just mentioned this and one person says keeping the temperature level under 220 degrees F is where you want to be. If you do, then do not expect your transmission to last too much longer. You do not want to go over 300 degrees F at any time. If you go above 220, and the light comes on at about 250 degrees F, then you will be damaging the fluid and the internal parts of the transmission. While the average or normal temperature your transmission should be at fluctuates depending on whom you talk to, if you keep the heat somewhere below 220 or 175 degrees F then you should not have any problems. You have to worry more when there is too little transmission fluid as that means those interior parts are not receiving the lubrication they need to run at optimum temperatures. Too much usually only means that the parts inside will be lubricated very well. Transmission fluid is a lubricant designed to prevent your transmission from overheating. We have seen no mention that having too much fluid in your transmission will make it run hot. ![]() Can Too Much Transmission Fluid Cause Overheating? Then you have to watch your driving habits as that will influence hot that part will get. If the solenoid is acting up or it's defective, then your transmission will start running too hot. There is an engine part that will influence how hot your transmission will run. But the fluid is not the only source for an overheating transmission. When you get low on transmission fluid, your transmission will overheat or get so hot that it will be damaged. Or if a gasket has worn out, you could spring a leak and the fluid will leave. When the transmission fluid gets old, dirty or the transmission was run so hot that the fluid burned, then you will start to have trouble with your transmission. That is one of the major reasons they start to have trouble with shifting their gears. But not everyone knows that they should also check their transmission fluid and change it regularly. Everyone knows about checking their oil and doing oil changes. ![]() 1/4/2024 0 Comments For apple download MarsEdit 5![]() ![]() I keep the most recent 700 articles in MarsEdit, those which I am most likely to use again. But as there is no way to refresh just a selected article, or articles which have changed, or even just the last dozen articles, it has been the only way to retain access to all my articles.įor the moment, I am working a compromise. It is this which is bringing my Mac to its knees at least once a day, and I suspect the WordPress servers are getting a bit fed up being hit like this too. If I set the refresh count to 1900, MarsEdit retains all my old articles, but whenever I refresh, it downloads every article every time. I need to have access to all of the 1800+ articles to do this. My preferred method is to open the article (in MarsEdit), copy the HTML source for the image, or whatever, and paste it into the article which I am working on. I frequently need to refer to older articles, and commonly include old images. So, with it set at 700, although I now have more than 1800 articles available here, MarsEdit only gives me access to the 700 most recent, which takes me back to mid-December 2015. That refresh count not only determines how many articles are refreshed when I click on the Refresh tool, but the total number of articles which MarsEdit keeps in its local store. If that sounds alarming, until yesterday, it was set at 1900. ![]() MarsEdit helpfully suggests that I should have my refresh count set between 10 and 30. And it is that which has been quietly wreaking havoc here. However, that not only refreshes the article that I have just been editing in WordPress, but the whole blog in its entirety, up to the number of articles specified in MarsEdit’s settings for the blog. This is accomplished by clicking on the Refresh tool in MarsEdit. To fix that, I have to edit the HTML source for each inserted image, which requires backloading each otherwise finished article into MarsEdit. That used to be all that I needed to do, but for the last year or so WordPress has refused to embed images in a way that allows readers to see them at full scale. I insert images and other media online, in my browser (Safari), and set other options up, including scheduled publication. Once it is ready to upload, I click on the tool to send the article to WordPress. I write each article in marked-up text, which being simple HTML gives me complete control without my having to make any particular effort. I don’t use its media management features, as I am too pernickety over images, which I prepare offline and upload direct into WordPress’s Media Library. Its main window shows my articles in chronological order, or sorted by title, etc., and provides me with a helpful preview including embedded images and other media. I chose Red Sweater’s MarsEdit, and have in the main been delighted with it. At the outset, I wanted to use software which was friendly, let me focus on getting the content right, and helped me keep track of all my articles offline. So it is with writing and running this blog. Do you ever get the feeling that others know something that you don’t? When you’re relatively new to an activity, it’s tempting to believe that the old hands have found a much easier way of doing it, and just aren’t letting on. ![]() |
